one of the barn owls who have been our dusk companions these past few weeks!
Hello Ordinary Nature Subscribers!
Wow, the things you learn when you have the good fortune to be visited by creatures from the more-than-human world! Did you know that a group of owls is called a “parliament” or a “stare” or a “congress” a even a “hooting”?
I did not. Until last month when a group of barn owls started frequenting our yard at dusk every night and I quickly realized I didn’t know how to refer to them! The dusk-light owl show has been the magic we have been lucky to experience in this transition time from later summer into early fall.
How about you? What special nature experiences have marked this transition time for you?
Below I share a video of my reflection on schedules, calendar time, and the busyness of the back-to-school season, and what the barn owls have shown me. Have you received any wisdom recently from our more-than-human creature friends? I’d love to hear about it.
In the next couple weeks I’ll be sharing upcoming dates for local and regional forest-bathing and nature art opportunities with me this fall—stay tuned for both in-person and virtual ways to connect with nature, together.
Cheers,
Jennifer

smoke haze helped create this enhanced “howling moon” effect last week — have you had this where you live? creepy-cool is my sensation anytime I see it!
