the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene — water shimmer is my favorite way to refresh my capacity to notice detail in nature

Hello Nature Seekers, Enjoyers, & Frolickers!

Wow — I don’t know about you, but the past month has gone by quickly, and I can’t believe I’m looking onto the horizon of August!

Which brings me to my theme and invitation today: As we head towards the last month of summer, how can we slow down, pause, and savor some un-rushed nourishment and delight with the natural world?

That is, could simplicity be our way into easier, consistent, and vitalizing nature connection?

And, from those ordinary moments of nature connection, how do we kindle—or water, and replenish—our ability to connect to other facets of life? Like: dreams, clarity, creatures, family, friends, deep purpose, deep play, and ___________?

How does the sensation of connection arise for you when you are in relationship with the natural world? I’d love to hear about your experience. It is unique to each person, and each moment.

This August, how might you savor nature connection via simplicity?

Can’t wait to hear about your explorations!

Cheers,

Jennifer

pine sprig overhead as I do an afternoon “sit spot’ — “sit spot” = a place you can sit most days, easy to get to, where you do nothing, where you allow anything to arise, where you soften and allow nature to greet you, however that looks and feels.

Nature Mini-practices

Need a bit of water soundscape to transition from screen time? Here you go!

A mini practice I find helpful when I don’t have a lot of time to do a long nature jaunt: Gently close my eyes and hear where I am. Even just 5 minutes with a “nature soundscape” break can be refreshing and enlivening.

What nature practices or experiences do you rely upon to soothe and enliven yourself?

nature’s “Japanese garden” — rock, water, sky, tree, mountain
